Uncheck "Show picture after download"

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I've just started to use BB (have been using it for about one month now).....
Is there any way to disbale/stop the viewer from displaying what's being downloaded (i.e. can it be switched off whilst downloading is taking place)?
